An Inside Look
J. Richards McCrae
Richards was born and raised in Fort Mill, South Carolina. He is a graduate of Fort Mill High School and the University of South Carolina where he received a B.A. in History in 2001. He received his law degree from the USC School of Law in 2004.
After graduating from law school, Richards clerked for The Honorable John C. Hayes, III, resident judge for the 16th Judicial Circuit (York and Union Counties). He joined Chappell, Smith & Arden upon the completion of his clerkship in August of 2005. Richards is a member of CSA's litigation team. His practice includes most areas of personal injury law, including auto-accidents, medical malpractice, products liability, electrocution cases, wrongful death cases and tractor-trailer cases.
Richards is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the Richland County Bar Association, the York County Bar Association, the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Trial Lawyers Association. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, District of South Carolina.
Richards and his wife, Jennifer, live in Columbia with their three dogs, Charlie, Mac and Hester. Both are avid Gamecock football fans.
